50 Word Story: “Okay”

Hello lovelies!

Not sure if any of you read Reader’s Digest, but it’s one of my favorite magazines. Quite recently they did an article where a myriad of published authors – all ages, all genres – wrote a story in exactly 50 words (which, for those of you who don’t know, is really, really short). I think the idea of a 50 word story is pretty cool, so I decided to try my hand at one of them.

Not going to tell you much about it, only that it’s a tad graphic so I caution younger readers – this might not be the post for you. I’d like to hear your thoughts, as this subject is quite personal to me. The story is entitled “Okay”.

“I’m okay,” she said.

And they believed in the smile she pasted on her face as she closed the bathroom door.

The crimson blood trickled down her paper wrists. The razor gouged irreplaceable chunks out of her already broken soul.

She stepped out of the bathroom.

“I’m okay,” she said.

    • Thank you, darling! Falling Star will indeed be on iTunes, but I’m not entirely sure the price range yet. Will post as soon as I know. :)

  1. Omg! That was a bittersweet story! Topaz, how do you word all of your blogs so well? I mean you write blogs that are so inspirational, they deserve to have their own column on the newspaper! :)

    • Thank you so much – I’m glad you liked it. Such a sad subject, but it has to be brought into the light if victims of self-harm will ever be liberated.

I love reader’s digest! I actually have a copy of Writer’s Digest, and it’s full of helpful tips for aspiring authors! :)

    • It’s a lovely magazine, isn’t it? I’ve never read Writer’s Digest although I do follow them on Twitter – will definitely check them out now!
