There’s good news and bad news. Bad news: I’ve got a fever/cold/infection thingie. Probably from lack of sleep. So yeah, not feeling to great at the moment. :P Good news: I started writing something I really, really like! I’ve only written about a page so far, but I can see it developing into a side project along with FH. Definitely not as intensive – I really don’t think I could handle both – but just something for motivation when I’m not really feeling the FH vibes, you know? The working title is A Rhapsody in Roses – will let you guys know if I decide to continue in the next couple days or ditch it.
Today’s poem originally started out as a haiku, but I wasn’t doing so great confined to a certain number of syllables per line, so I decided to just turn into a three-line poem instead. As you guys know, I tend to incorporate a lot of fantasy elements into my songs/poems, but this one has a bit of a different message than usual! ;)
Have a great weekend, everyone; will talk to you on Monday. :)
To Hell with Prince Charming
To hell with Prince Charming
and knights in shining armour.
Write your own fairytale ending.
I was in English class today doodling (as usual!), and apparently I had Frozen Hearts on the brain. When I looked down to check out exactly what my hands had created while my mind was preoccupied with other things… this is what I saw.
Before today I hadn’t really thought about the cover for FH much – I was more focused on the actual writing bit – but I’m an amateur graphic designer so I think I’ll try my hand at making my own cover. Now, I am by no means the best artist out there – or an artist at all, really – but I quite like the whole concept of the eyes and the tree and the snow. Not sure… will probably do some more sketches and show them to you guys before making the final one in Photoshop ;) In other news, I edited a chapter today and now we’re just shy of 45k words! :D
So what do you guys think of my doodle-cover-thing? Yay or nay? Let me know in the comments! <3
What with my busy schedule lately, it completely slipped my mind that NaNoWriMo is just around the corner! For those of you who don’t know, NaNoWriMo is the short term for “National Novel Writing Month”, which takes place every year in November. As the name implies, participating authors attempt to write a 50k word novel in just one month! :D More info on NaNoWriMo can be found at the official website: http://nanowrimo.org/
I personally have never taken part, but it sounds like so much fun and those of my friends who have done it highly recommended it. This year I will unfortunately have to pass once more – mostly because my brain would explode if I had to juggle editing FH, recording Falling Star, NaNoWriMo, school, and whatever semblance of a social life I have managed to maintain. Ah well… there’s always next year, yes? ;) I’ve always wanted to participate… I think come next November I’ll try and free up my schedule especially for this. :D
So, what about you guys? Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? I’d love to hear your novel ideas if so – and how you intend to balance your schedule to finish this thing! I could definitely use some tips, considering I had to forgo editing FH again today due to homework, homework, and more homework. :( I’m crossing my fingers that tomorrow and Friday will fare a bit better, but if they don’t… this weekend, I promise I’ll do a major editing operation to make up for the lost days! (Coffee, here I come. :D)
Hey all! :)
Over the weekend I got some work done on FH. Edited up to Chapter 10 now, so that’s awesome – more or less a third of the way through! I think over the weekend I’ll probably be recording a couple songs for Falling Star (that, for all of you lovely new members to our little family, is my debut album). I’m having such a hard time deciding which songs are actually going to go on the record, though… I keep changing my mind. I swear, I just want to pile all thirty on one CD. ;)
BUT ANYWAYS! Speaking of music, decided to do this week’s song snippet earlier in the week. “Falling Star” is the one song that I’m sure is going to go on the album, for obvious reasons. ;) And I really love the work my awesome guitarist Shandi did with it, but I kind of want to save the actual music as a surprise, so for now… the lyrics of the first verse and chorus will have to do :D Stars/galaxy/sky/other heavenly subjects are some of my favorite to write about, and I’m really proud of this song. Which is probably why it’s the title of the CD. ;)
Here we are together
Walking hand in hand
Exploring the galaxy, to fantasy lands
To places where hopes and dreams
Really do come true
But my dream’s already living
‘Cause darling, it’s you
‘Cause your smile lifts me
Higher than the stars themselves
On moonbeams and starlight
We’re soaring high above the world
We’re dancing and flying
And waltzing through the sparkling skies
And I could catch a falling star right now
But I know I don’t have to, somehow
‘Cause your eyes are looking into mine and it’s oh so clear
That the only thing I could ever wish for is right here
