Hi everyone! I didn't really get much Frozen Hearts editing done today - there was quite a bit of writing for school and other projects, and I just couldn't summon up the energy to sit down and edit for half an hour. :P Nevertheless, most of my homework due for Friday is finished, so tomorrow I'll have relatively little to do (and, consequently, will be editing a lot!).
As you know, I like to do these goals posts for FH, just to let you know where I'm currently standing and how far I need to go. :) I'm working on beta comments still, but I'm kind of veering off that path and going down my own little spiels (inspired by those comments!) - that's why it's been taking so long as compared to my earlier editing stages. For the past couple of days I've been totally reworking the climax of FH, and I think it's a lot stronger now... tonight I'm sending it to my critique group to get some feedback on it, and then I'll go from there.
One of the biggest things that keeps on cropping up in the betas' comments is character development, especially for two of the main supporting characters. It seems that in my quest to make Rosalyn and Chase more real to the reader, I'd actually sort of neglected the other characters! So I'm adding in a couple of flashbacks, a dream sequence or two, etc, etc, etc - those two character don't actually appear in the book until the beginning and the end, so it doesn't exactly help for them to be absent for the bulk of it. ;) If anyone has ideas on character development as well, please do let me know - I'd love to hear your suggestions!
That's really all I'm working on at the moment - the plot seems to be pretty strong already, so I'm not messing with that anymore, but there's just the little words and punctuation and all that, which I'm editing on a case-by-case basis. I'll probably be printing out the manuscript as soon as I'm finished with beta comments as well, just so I can see it in a different light rather than on my computer screen at all times!
How is your writing going, lovelies? Hope you've all been having a great week so far! xx
