Goodbye, Facebook

Hey guys! I'm sorry about the scheduling blip regarding my last post - not really sure what happened there! Wordpress had been doing that to me more often lately... I might need to update my version or something so I'm not completely embarrassed when my posts don't go live as planned. :P

Today I made a pretty important decision that has to do with my online presence. It's something I've been thinking about for a little while, and though initially I was on the fence about it, I think I'm making the right choice in deleting my Facebook page.

To be honest, the page was pretty young to begin with, and yet I never really... clicked with it, you know? It wasn't like Twitter, where I found an awesome community, figured out how to set things up, and started tweeting within minutes of signing up. With Facebook, it felt almost cumbersome from the start. Now, this could just be me - heck, I know Facebook is hugely popular amongst both the writerly/musical population and other people - but I just don't think that it's the right social media platform for me to share my work with you all. I found myself simply re-posting the things I'd said on Twitter and linking back to my blog posts on here... so really, what's the point of doing it if I'm not going to say anything original, yes? Even though I'm on Facebook quite a bit due to the fact that my critique group is centred there, it's not the right place for my social media in the long term, and I'm kind of relieved to be discontinuing my page.

So I came, I saw, I conquered... and I decided the scene just wasn't right for me. Oh well - I've learned my lesson, dear readers! To those of you who "liked" my page - thank you so much for that! I'll still be active on Twitter and, of course, Wordpress - not to worry, I have no intention of leaving these communities. ;) So if you're interested in the content I've been posting, don't forget to follow me on there as well. xx

love, Topaz
