Me Me Me Monday (5)

Hi lovelies! May just was not my month for posting, was it? :P I missed Friday Poetry last week - so sorry about that! I really don't have an excuse other than the fact that my mom is kind of obsessively harping me about packing for our impending trip to the US (which, by the way, is in - count with me, folks! - TWO DAYS!). But yes, I am back once more, and hopefully June will be better in terms of posting frequency. :D

Currently Watching...

... The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. My friend introduced this Youtube series to me - it's a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, kind of like Sherlock, except, you know, on a different topic and on Youtube. Basically the two things I love most in the world: modern adaptations and Pride and Prejudice. ;) So, of course, I had to watch it and now I'm hooked! The narrator, Lizzie (of course!), is sarcastic and witty, and Jane is just incredibly sweet and Lydia is totally hilarious. :D There are 100 episodes in total and I'm on the 54th; I'd definitely recommend it! It's very interesting to see how the creators have managed to incorporate all the little details of Pride and Prejudice into it - some of them are very clever, haha ;) You can watch the full playlist on Youtube right here.

Currently Reading...

... The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin. I borrowed this from one of my friends (the same one as above, incidentally!) and I'm enjoying it more than expected. It follows the story of a woman who basically goes on a quest to make herself happier and to enjoy life more while she still can. It's quite fascinating, actually, and although I think the author could have totally messed it up and made it really preachy, she pulled it off pretty well. (One thing I can't stand: preachy books. Ick.) It's not for everyone, but if you're interested in more of a self-improvement-inspiring-philosophical sort of read, definitely give it a try! You might like it! :)

Currently Writing...

... lots of poetry! I kind of went on a poetry kick on Saturday and the things I've been writing are quite... different, shall we say, than what I normally post. Not necessarily in a bad way, mind you - I'm enjoying experimenting with new styles, so I'll probably post one of the poems I wrote for Friday Poetry this week! Also, I wrote a couple of songs; I hadn't written since last week, so it was lovely to get back into the swing of things with that. And, as always, Frozen Hearts editing and writing its sequel. I'm not really doing any serious writing; just trying to figure out a vague plotline and sketch out character identities (which, I'll admit, is always my favourite part!). Currently the word count for FH is at 62k, and the count for the sequel - pretty much just a bunch of scenes strung together - is 9.5k.

Currently Listening To...

... I Choose You, by Sara Bareilles (okay, moment of truth: does ANYONE  here have an inkling as to how to pronounce her last name? ;)). I'm a big fan of Sara's music - she's basically a master of lyrics, and this song most certainly does not disappoint. One of my favourite lines: I'll unfold before you / what I've strung together / the very first words of a lifelong / love letter. AWWWWWW. I've listened to quite a few love songs (um, what clued you in? ;) ), but this one is just so beautiful and probably destined to be on my Favourites playlist! Plus, the music video is freaking ADORABLE. She always does the coolest things for her videos; check it out below -

Random Updates...

The 8th grade dance was today. (Read: prom wanna-be.) I went because my friends wanted me to, but I really had about zero expectation for a good time - and was not surprised. The gist of it was a bunch of middle schoolers swaying in a dark room with annoyingly loud music bursting everyone's eardrums... so much fun, no? On the plus side, there was free food and aircon, but most of us just started a huge foosball game in the next room until we were allowed to go. Kind of disappointing - I could have spent those two and a half hours writing! :P But anyway, tomorrow we get to go to the beach, so hopefully that'll be a little better. :) And then, after that... NEW YORK! (Helloooooo, 23 hour plane ride!) I'll be posting my full schedule in the US tomorrow, so stay tuned for more info on what I've been ranting about for the past few weeks. ;)

I haven't really been talking with you all lately, so how've you been? I'd love to catch up in the comments section! :)

love, Topaz
