Hi, lovelies! You already know what I'm going to say: I'm so sorry for the long silence. I don't think I've skipped a week of posting since I first began, so rest assured it's been very odd not logging in every single day and letting you all know how I've been doing! That being said, so many cool things happened since I last updated you, and the good news is I most likely will be able to maintain a much more regular posting schedule from now on. :D
So, first things first! In case you haven't heard, Tanvi and I did pretty well in the National History Day competition. We advanced to the finals round (that is, the top 14 in our category), and then we found out at the awards ceremony that we had won 11th place, plus the Best in Region Award. Since this is out of several thousand entries, I'm pretty excited about that (though, I can't deny that I'm very relieved to have so much more time now to work on Frozen Hearts and write songs!).
After we finished the competition, it was just my mom and me once more. We hopped on a plane over to California for the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (here's the link to the website, if you want to know more about it). As you may or may not recall, I signed up for the Topics in Business & Entrepreneurship course - today was the first full day of the course, and so far it's actually been a lot of fun! I wasn't really sure what to expect, having never been to one of these camps before, but the courseload isn't too heavy and there's plenty of time to explore campus and just hang out, so that's lovely (especially since this whole area is simply beautiful!). Not to mention the extremely extensive bookstore just a 10-minute walk from my dorm. ;)
I didn't get a chance to work on FH at all in Washington since I was slightly busy running frantically around trying to practise and get the props and set ready, but now that I'm here I'm definitely going to be writing a lot more. Obviously it won't be as much as normal (since I do want to have a chance to just chill out and be a kid!), but it'll certainly be much better than... nothing. :D Also, I don't think I'll be able to post every single weekday like I normally do, but I believe I'll shoot for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays... seems like a good alternative to keep you guys caught up on everything. Of course, Me Me Me Monday and Friday Poetry is still on hold until I get back home, but I have been writing some poetry so I can't wait to share that with you.
Guys, I'm so so excited to be here. :D Although I didn't love Washington as much as New York, the Stanford campus is just amazing and I can't wait to learn more of what this course has to offer!
