Snapshots | August 18th

Well, I was quite ready to enjoy a nice and relaxing weekend (especially after Friday's activities!), but I suppose that will have to wait for another time - the past few days have been unprecedentedly busy. Not in a bad way, certainly; it's mostly been a whirlwind of Half Mystic work, which, as you lovelies know, is never something I object to. We received an influx of staff applications over the weekend, and I am sort of dizzyingly excited to say that I believe we're ready to begin narrowing down the application pool and going through the selection process for a few of the positions (!!!!!!).

I will, of course, be introducing the new staff members on Six Impossible Things - so please do give them a warm welcome when that happens. Truly, all of the applicants have been intensely talented; it will not at all be an easy choice, but I know for a fact that they will make Half Mystic shine. <3

Unfortunately, though, a rather less pleasant thing happened yesterday - my mother had an allergic reaction to a new medicine she was trying.

It was quite serious - hives, vomiting, diarrhoea, itching, the whole thing. She had to go to the hospital and stay for six hours, which was nothing short of terrifying (no matter how many times she assured us over the phone that she was perfectly fine).

But she came home yesterday evening in a taxi - never mind our protestations that we could pick her up at the hospital, because my mother is the kind of woman who gets annoyed when people fuss over her. She was very exhausted and slightly spooked, but otherwise none the worse for the wear. So thank goodness for that.

And so that was my weekend - one lovely event and one not-so-lovely one. I'm settling back into the routine of school, as well; it is an interesting thing to attempt to balance writing + music + blogging + homework, but I think I am getting the hang of it, which is certainly a relief.

How did your weekend go, then? Let us chat in the comments - I would love to hear from you. xx
