Snapshots | November 2nd

Happy NaNoWriMo, lovelies! I am embarking upon NaNo for the first time this year, and so my weekend was mainly taken up by plotting & such. (This is also the reason why I missed Friday Poetry - I may have gotten a bit too caught up in my story? No - there is no such thing as too caught up, I think. ;)) I am really quite excited, I must say, though I'm not doing the traditional NaNo - but I'll be sharing my projects on the blog later this week, so keep an eye out for that.

Other than that: my weekend was mainly spent sorting through Half Mystic submissions. Our first issue appears to be coming together, which is momentously exciting; I am discovering so many gorgeous new musicians + artists + writers, and I absolutely cannot wait to share them with the world.

There have been some frustrations along the way, though. Namely: I think we are cursed when it comes to writing editors. To date, eight people have applied, and none accepted - I'm beginning to think my standards may be too high. Or perhaps the right person simply hasn't come along yet? I am hoping for the latter, but we'll see; in the case of our other two staff members, both seemed to be matches made in heaven, and I am holding out for similar serendipity in this case.

In other news, I'm somewhat surprised - though certainly no less pleased - that I appear to have stumbled into the spoken word poetry scene! It's certainly not something I had ever envisioned myself taking part in, but by some lovely twist of fate, I'm performing a few pieces at an event this Friday, which I will hopefully be able to gain a video recording of so that I can share it with you all. What's more: last week I auditioned and somehow made it into an incredible spoken word team at my school, which I am absolutely ecstatic about. (Also somewhat shocked, because wow.)

More news on that as it unfolds, but suffice to say for now - I am beyond delighted to be exploring such new and beautiful waters.

Housekeeping news for 6IT: as you may have noticed, the dragons have been tinkering about behind the scenes, and so our sidebar has been slimmed down somewhat. (This will likely evolve in the coming days, as well - it's a work in progress for now.)

Also, if you'll look up at the navigation: there is a new page for collaborations! I've been meaning to reach out more to the beautifully vibrant blogging and media communities, and so this + applying to new networks, also seen in the sidebar, are my first steps. Please do get in touch, if you think you might be interested in working with me - I'd love to plan something out with you!

And so that was my weekend - somewhat hectic, but, for the most part, still bright.

What about you, then? Let's chat in the comments - tell me about your NaNo projects or your weekend or both or neither. I'd absolutely love to hear about it all. xx
