Merry Christmas, my loves! I am home from Jogja & spending this day in the arms of jetlagged gingerbread & winter-blue starshine & flickering twinkle lights, the dog happily chewing up wrapping paper, twine wrapped around gifts beneath the towering tree. It is my last Christmas in Singapore before I fly off to university & so I am cherishing it more than ever. I hope your holidays—Christmas or otherwise—are full of just this kind of steady sleepy closeness.
In case you missed the announcement over on the Half Mystic blog, we are hosting another in-person launch in the New Year, this time for Issue VI: Interlude! We've had huge demand to plan a new Half Mystic gathering ever since the sold-out Issue IV: Grazioso launch last year, so it's an absolute joy to be bringing you another evening of music & magic. The launch of Issue VI will happen at BooksActually, on Yong Siak Street in Singapore, on January 4 from 7 to 8:30 PM. The launch features Alvin Pang, Ethel Yap, Jean Tan, Laetitia K., Jocelyn Suarez, & Crispin Rodrigues, alongside an introduction by myself. Each performance & reading will interrogate & linger with the theme of interlude: where it has come from, how it is formed, what it could be. Here’s where you can RSVP to the event—there are still two open mic slots for writing & music left, so message Half Mystic on Facebook to claim yours!
In other news, the 2018 A Clock That Follows the Shadows of Cats reader survey is now live. This annual survey helps immensely in understanding what you enjoyed & disliked about the content I created for you in 2018, & offers a view on how I can serve you better in 2019. It’s short & anonymous, & I would be so honoured to hear your thoughts. Here’s where you can access the survey. Thank you so much for your contributions.
& finally: the holiday season is a beautiful time to give back to your community! To that end, here is your periodic reminder that I have a Patreon page, where every week, I share stories, poems, essays, & letters of silver-sweet-soft-sharp inspiration. The good & bad & ugly & beautiful of my journeys. Something rich & hopeful & infinitely warm. Something you may not expect at first, but always something to hold close to your chest, to let melt on your tongue, to slowly fall in love with. If you have a few dollars per month to spare, please consider pledging to support me on Patreon. I’m a young, queer, female, disabled, & completely independently-supported artist—so each donation makes a real, tangible impact on my life & career. It would mean the absolute world to me to have you here.
Thank you for your love & light this year, dear friends. I love you so much, more than you’ll ever know. Merry Christmas. xx
