Friday Poetry: "Lies"

Friday is here at last! This week has been busy; final exams are very soon so I'm slightly nervous about that. Eighth grade has gone by so fast—it’s hard to believe that in two months I'll be in high school!

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, yes? This week's Friday Poetry is something along the lines of a boy who's not all he seems and a girl who isn't okay at all. I do hope you enjoy it. Have a lovely weekend! I'll see you on Monday. xx

one day, he asked her: are you okay?
eyes crinkled in almost-genuine concern
riddles dancing along the edges of
quietly venomous words not quite said aloud.
she looked at him, silent questions
slipped into the spaces between syllables.
she found her answer, and turned away.

she lied.
